Mish Mash

Last Sunday was the Uenomura nursery school Christmas festival. It was filled with strange dances, the Christmas story (Japanified Bible version), kids dressed up as ninjas, kids doing their Elvis impersonations, and kimono clad youngsters. It was awesome. I had the pleasure of leading them in two English "Christmas" songs--The ABCs and Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star. It was the best Christmas program I've ever been to...and most untraditional.

baby jesus, ninjas, rockstars with christmas garland affixed to their pants...what more could you want in a christmas fesitval?!

reminds me of all those christmas pageants at our savior lutheran. in 2nd grade i had to say "remember the sabbath and keep it holy"--i could barely read then and they already had me saying sabbath.

nice post, i enjoyed.

What the hell are they teaching those kids in Japan?!?! Is that how they think WE celebrate christmas?
Actually, that would be pretty awesome if it was...
That would be a sweet idea for a theme party--Japanese Christmas. You would have the choice of dressing up as elvis, a ninja, or in a kimono.
